The importance of tourism as an economic factor that contributes to growth and employment is acknowledged throughout the world. In 2013, more than a billion people worldwide went abroad on a tourist trip. According to an estimate of the World Tourist Organisation (UNWTO), worldwide international tourist arrivals will rise up to 1.8 billion in 2030.
In those rural regions that are blessed with natural space potential and have motivated stakeholders, tourism developments pose an important opportunity for creating a regional export base. Innovative, thematically focused projects on the corporate as well as on the regional level can create a stimulus for further tourism development and can thus encourage the creation of jobs. The goal here is to contribute to improving the quality of tourism offers (corporate side and infrastructural), especially in tourism market segments with high potential.
This hinges strongly on the stakeholders' determination.
